Nababahala si House Deputy Majority Leader Janette Garin sa pahayag ng ilang opisyal ng pamahalaan na mas inaalala pa ang karapatan ng isang lumabag sa batas kaysa sa mga naging biktima nito ng pang-aabuso at human trafficking.
Sa gitna ito ng operasyon ng Kapulisan sa Kingdom of Jesus Christ compound para arestuhin si Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.
Ayon kay Garin, bilang isang ina at babae, hindi niya matanggap na tila mas pinahahalagahan ng ilan ang karapatan ng isang makapangyarihang personalidad na nahaharap sa heinous crimes kaysa hustisya para sa kaniyang mga biktima.
“As a mother, a woman, and a public servant, I cannot remain silent in the face of Vice President’s recent statement concerning the [KOJC] and the ongoing legal actions against its leaders… I find it troubling that her sympathies appear to lie more with a powerful figure wanted for serious crimes rather than with the vulnerable women and minors who have suffered at the hands of an accused predator,” punto niya.
Paalala niya na hindi alegasyon ang kinahaharap na reklamo ni Quiboloy ngunit may sapat na ebidensya at hindi aniya dapat nahahaluan ng politika.
“These are not trivial matters to be dismissed or overshadowed by political spin. The real issue here is justice for the victims—innocent individuals whose lives have been irrevocably harmed,” aniya.
Bilang mga opisyal ng pamahalaan dapat aniya ay kanilang unahin ang kapakanan ng mga most vulnerable o yung nasa laylayan, pumanig sa hustisya at panagutin ang mga manghahamak ng mga inosente.
“It is essential that our leaders prioritize the welfare of the most vulnerable among us, not the defense of those with power and influence who have been accused of heinous crimes… I urge all Filipinos, particularly mothers and fathers, to consider the implications of her words and to stand firmly on the side of justice and the protection of our children,” diin ni Garin. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
