Nagpahayag ng maigting na suporta si House Committee on Basic Education and Culture Chair Roman Romulo sa desisyon ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na magtatag ng Cabinet Cluster for Education.
Naniniwala si Romulo na ang hakbang na ito ay magpapahusay sa pangangasiwa at koordinasyon ng mga ahensyang may kaugnayan sa edukasyon sa loob ng Executive Department, upang matugunan ang patuloy na krisis sa pag-aaral sa Pilipinas gamit ang isang pinag-isang diskarte.
“As we navigate through this learning crisis, we have observed that despite the best intentions, many of our education agencies are engaged in fragmented and disjointed efforts. These efforts, while well-meaning, often result in further complications, leading to wasted resources and an overburdened workforce. This is a situation we can no longer afford to perpetuate,” sabi ni Romulo.
Ang pagtatatag ng Cabinet Cluster ay kasunod ng liham na ipinadala noong July 11, 2024, ng Second Congressional Commission on Education (EDCOM 2) at paghahain ng House Concurrent Resolution No. 28 na humihimok kay Pangulong Marcos na bumuo ng naturang Cabinet Cluster.
Para sa mambabatas, upang masolusyunan ang mga problema sa sistema ng edukasyon ay kailangan i-streamline ang core functions nito.
Positibo naman si Romulo na sa pagkakaroon ng Cabinet Cluster for Education ay makakamit ang isang consistent at epektibong pagdadala ng kalidad na edukasyon sa lahat ng antas sa kabuuan ng education system ng bansa.
“This initiative is not merely a matter of governance; it is about ensuring that every agency involved in education works in coordination, follows a clear policy direction, and understands the critical urgency of the tasks at hand.
