Bigo ang Philippine Coast Guard na maihatid ang mga pagkain at iba pang supply para sa kanilang mga tauhan sa BRP Teresa Magbanua sa Escoda Shoal.

Ayon kay Commodore Jay Tarriela, tagapagsalita ng Philippine Coast Guard sa isyu ng West Philippine Sea, 20 nautical miles palang mula sa Escoda Shoal may 6 na barko na ng China Coast Guard bukod pa sa mga barko ng Chinese Coast Guard at People’s Liberation Army Navy na umaaligid sa BRP Cabra at BRP Cape Engaño.

Bukod pa ito sa 36 Chinese Maritime Militia Vessels na nakaabang rin sa kanila.

Ang BRP Teresa Magbanua ay nasa Escoda Shoal mula pa noong Abril.

Kasunod yan ng mga nadiskubreng durog na corals at umano’y small-scale reclamation na pinaniniwalaang ginagawa ng China sa lugar.

Naniniwala si Tarriela na kaya ganoon nalang ang pagbabantay ng China ay dahil natatakot itong maging susunod na BRP Sierra Madre na ito.

Sinabi pa niya na hindi naman nakasadsad ang BRP Teresa Magbanua na isa sa pinakamalaki at modernong barko ng PCG.

Binigyang-diin ng opisyal na ang Escoda o Sabina Shoal ay nasa loob ng Exclusive Economic Zone ng Pilipinas.

Katunayan, nasa 85 hanggang 90 nautical miles lang aniya ang layo nito sa Rizal, Palawan.

Nanindigan ang PCG na hindi nila aalisin ang BRP Teresa Magbanua sa Escoda Shoal hanggat hindi sila nakakasigurong hindi magtatayo ng istruktura ang China sa lugar.  | ulat ni Mike Rogas
