Itinuturing ni House Committee on Agriculture and Food Chair Mark Enverga na panalo para sa sektor ng agrikultura at ng mga Pilipino ang pagratipika ng Kamara sa Bicameral Conference Committee Report ng Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Act.
Bilang isa sa Legislative Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) priority measures, layon ng panukala na palakasin ang agricultural productivity at protektahan ang nga magsasaka at mangingisda mula sa mga smugglers, hoarders, at profiteers.
“President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ R. Marcos Jr., in his 2023 State of the Nation Address, warned that the days of smugglers and hoarders are numbered, identifying them as key contributors to rising agricultural prices. This Act is our response to his call for action,” sabi ni Enverga.
Sa ilalim ng panukala, pabibigatin ang parusa laban sa smuggling, hoarding, profiteering, at cartel operations.
Papatawan ng habang buhay na pagkakakulong at multa na limang beses na mas mataas sa halaga ng agri-fishery product na sangkot sa naturang krimen.
Bubuo rin dito ng Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Council, na titiyak sa tamang implimentasyon ng batas.
Bubuoin ito ng Department of Agriculture (DA); Department of Justice (DOJ); Department of Finance (DOF); Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG); Department of Transportation (DOTr); Department of Trade and Industry (DTI); Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC); at Philippine Competition Commission (PCC).
Para naman matutukan ang pagsasampa ng kaso tungkol sa economic sabotage ay pinagtatatag ang DOJ ng special prosecution team.
