Suportado ni CIBAC Party-list Representative Bro. Eddie Villanueva ang ginawang pagsasampa ng kasong graft and corruption ng Office of the Ombudsman laban sa dating matataas na opisyal ng pamahalaan na sangkot sa iregularidad sa paglilipat at paggamit ng COVID-19 funds noong pandemya.
Aniya, mahalaga ang hakbang na ito ng Ombudsman sa anti-corruption crusade ng pamahalaan at wala aniyang dapat maging “sacred cow” kapag interes na ng publiko ang pinag-uusapan.
“We express our full support and solidarity with the Office of the Ombudsman in pursuing justice on behalf of the Filipinos against those who looted public funds at the height of the pandemic. May the Ombudsman show no mercy against those who conspired to rob the Filipino people,” sabi ni Villanueva.
Kamakailan lang nang sampahan ng graft case ng Ombudsman sina dating Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Francisco Duque III at dating former Department of Budget and Management Procurement Service (DBM-PS) Executive Director Lloyd Christopher Lao sa umano’y maling paggamit sa ₱41.46-billion fund ma inilipat ng DOH sa DBM-PS sa kasagsagan mg pandemya noong 2020.
