DA, pinuri ang PPA, BOC sa mabilis na pagresolba sa overstaying imported food items sa Manila Ports

Ikinatuwa ng Department of Agriculture (DA) ang mabilis na pagtugon ng Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) at Bureau of Customs (BOC) para sa pagpapalabas ng imported agricultural products sa mga daungan.

May kaugnayan ito sa daan-daang container vans na naglalaman ng food products kabilang ang bigas, ang naka-tengga na ng ilang buwan sa mga daungan sa Maynila.

Ayon kay Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr., isa sa mga dahilan ng pagkaantala sa shipping at delivery ng imported agricultural products ay dulot ng mga nagdaang bagyo at sama ng panahon.

Sa kabuuang 888 overstaying container vans na ininspeksyon, nasa 300 ang naalis na ng mga consignee.

Inaasahan na marami pang container vans ang maaalis sa mga daungan bago matapos ang buwan.

Dahil dito, umaasa ang DA Chief na mapataas pa ang suplay ng food products sa merkado at posibleng bumaba ang presyo para sa mga consumer. | ulat ni Rey Ferrer
