DOLE, nakapagtala ng mataas na compliance sa Expanded Maternity Leave

Malugod na ibinalita ng Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) sa mga mambabatas na mataas ang compliance rate ng mga kompanya sa Expanded Maternity Leave.

Isa ito sa mga natanong ni Gabriela Party-list Representative Arlene Brosas sa pagsalang sa plenaryo ng ₱45.2-billion na panukalang budget ng ahensya, nausisa ng mambabatas kung lahat ba ng mga kompanya ay tumatalima sa batas na nagpapalawig sa Maternity Leave ng 105 araw.

Matatandaan na 2019 nang pagtibayin ang Republic Act No. 11210 kung saan mula 60 days na Maternity Leave para sa normal delivery at 72 days naman para sa Caesarian delivery ay itinaas ito sa 105 days.

Tugon ni Appropriations Vice-Chair Jil Bingalon, Budget sponsor, mataas ang bilang ng mga kompanyang kinikilala ang batas ang wala aniya nagiging problema sa pagpapatupad nito.

Dagdag pa niya na para sa taong 2024, hanggang nitong buwan ng Hulyo ay apat na kompanya lang ang naitala na lumabag sa naturang batas.

Samantala, maliban sa DOLE, ay lusot na rin sa plenaryo ang deliberasyon ng panukalang pondo ng Department of Tourism (DOT), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), at Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG). | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
