Pinangunahan ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. ngayong araw (September 2) ang selebrasyon ng ika-56 na founding anniversary ng 250th Presidential Airlift Wing.
Ito ang hanay ng Philippine Air Force na nakatutok sa pagbibigay ng air transport sa First Family at iba pang local at international VIPs sa bansa.
“You enable me and the cabinet members to fly around our country in support of Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response Missions. This, you are doing despite the danger in the air and the disaster that we might meet on land. Through your service, we have been able to assess the surroundings, be with our people, and help our fellow men and women in the fastest and safest way possible.” — Pangulong Marcos.
Sa naging talumpati ng Pangulo sa Villamor Airbase, kinilala nito ang higit 400 flights na matagumpay at ligtas na naisakatuparan ng kaniyang tanggapan, dahil nagpamalas ng pinakamataas na lebel ng propesyonalismo ang ‘bluebirds’.
“You ensure that we remain steadfast, secure, and moving forward, even when the winds threaten to pull us back, as evidenced by your 8,416 accident-[free] flying hours since the start of this administration.” — Pangulong Marcos.
Sabi ng Pangulo, kung hindi rin dahil sa serbisyo na ibinibigay ng Presidential Airlift Wing, hindi rin niya maisasakatuparan ang kaniyang tungkulin, at hindi siya makakarating sa iba’t ibang bahagi ng bansa, mapa-assistance distribution man, humanitarian mission, o inspeksyon matapos ang sakuna.
“I will say this outright. I could not do the job that I do if not for the professionalism and the provision of service that the Presidential Airlift Wing provides. I can not imagine, pagka-mayroong bagyo, pagka-mayroong krisis na hindi ko mapuntahan dahil walang eroplano o hindi lumilipad dahil sine-service, whatever; hindi mahina ‘yung maintenance, whatever; for the political things pagpunta ko sa mga LGU. I simply could not do the job that I need to do without the airlift wing available to me.” — Pangulong Marcos.
Kaugnay nito, siniguro ng Pangulo na mananatiling nakasuporta ang administrasyon sa hanay ng ‘bluebirds’, at patuloy na ipagkakaloob ang suporta na kanilang kailangan.
