Mga baboy na nakitaan ng sintomas ng ASF, naharang sa checkpoint ng BAI

Naharang ng Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) sa checkpoint sa Mindanao Avenue, Quezon City ang kargamento ng mga baboy na nakitaan ng sintomas ng African Swine Fever o ASF.

Ayon sa Department of Agriculture (DA), ang 70 baboy na sakay ng truck ay agad na kinumpiska matapos mapansing may mga sintomas ng ASF ang ilan sa mga ito.

Nakumpirma ang pagkakaroon ng ASF sa mga baboy matapos ang isinagawang pagsusuri at nakatakda itong i-cull o patayin ngayong araw.

Ang naturang operasyon ay bahagi ng pinaigting na kampanya ng BAI at Philippine National Police (PNP) laban sa pagkalat ng ASF sa bansa.

Batay sa datos, halos 500 baboy na may ASF na ang naharang ng BAI sa iba’t ibang checkpoint sa buong bansa simula noong Agosto.

Bukod sa mga baboy, mahigpit ding binabantayan ng BAI ang mga manok upang maiwasan ang pagkalat ng Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza o bird flu. | ulat ni Diane Lear
