Pagsasabatas sa Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Act, dapat ikatakot ng smugglers — DA

Muling nagbabala si Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. sa mga smuggler na tigilan na ang pananamantala lalo ngayong isa nang batas ang Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Act.

Sa isang pahayag, sinabi ni Sec. Tiu-Laurel, na isang hakbang ang batas na ito para mapanagot na ng tuluyan at mapatawan ng mas mabibigat na penalty ang mga smuggler at hoarder ng mga agricultural food products, kabilang ang mga cartel.

Dahil dito, dapat umanong magdalawang isip na ang mga smuggler.

Kasunod nito, sinabi ng kalihim na lubos na makikinabang sa batas ang mga magsasaka at mangingisda na ang kabuhayan ay nalalagay sa peligro dahil sa mga mapagsamantalang hoarder at smuggler.

Sa ilalim ng Anti-Agricultural Economic Sabotage Act (AGES), itinuturing na economic sabotage ang smuggling at hoarding ng agricultural food products, kung ang halaga ng goods ay lalampas sa ₱10 milyon.

Kabilang dito ang mga produktong bigas, mais, baka, at iba pang ruminants, baboy, poultry, bawang, sibuyas, carrots, iba pang gulay, prutas, isda, asin, at iba pang aquatic products sa kanilang raw state.

Hinikayat naman ng kalihim ang sinumang may impormasyon sa posibleng smuggling o hoarder na agad itong ipaalam sa mga awtoridad lalo’t sa ilalim ng AGES ay may hanggang ₱20 milyong reward at iba pang insentibo rin na matatanggap ang mga magbibigay ng impormasyon na magdudulot ng imbestigasyon, pag-aresto, prosecution, at paghatol sa mga smuggler at hoarder. | ulat ni Merry Ann Bastasa
