Panukalang Magna Carta of Barangay Health Workers, paraan ng pagkilala sa serbisyo ng mga BHW — Sen. Bong Go

Iginiit ni Senate Committee on Health Chairperson Senador Christopher ‘Bong’ Go na panahon nang suklian ang serbisyo ng mga barangay health workers sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay sa kanila ng nararapat na benepisyo at kompensasyon.

Sinabi ito ng senador kasabay ng pagpresenta sa plenaryo ng panukalang Magna Carta of Barangay Health Workers (BHW) o ang Senate Bill 2838.

Pinunto ni Go na sa kabila ng kanilang pagiging frontliners at backbone ng primary healthcare sa maraming komunidad, sa ngayon ay itinuturing pa rin silang mga volunteer lang at nakakatanggap lang ng kakarampot na insentibo at benepisyo na hindi tugma sa serbisyong ibinibigay nila.

Sa ilalim ng panukala, bibigyan ng hindi bababa sa ₱3,000 na monthly honorarium ang mga BHW, transportation at subsistence allowances, at hazard pay.

Nakapaloob rin dito ang one-time incentive na hindi bababa sa ₱10,000 para sa mga BHW na nakapagsilbi na ng 15 years pataas.

Bibigyan rin sila ng free legal services at insurance coverage mula sa GSIS.

Itinatakda rin ng panukalang ito ang paggunita ng Barangay Health Workers Day tuwing April 7. | ulat ni Nimfa Mae Asuncion
