Pilipinas at India, magtutulungan para itaguyod ang Freedom of Navigation sa rehiyon

Nagkasundo ang Pilipinas at India na palakasin ang kooperasyon para sa pagtataguyod ng Freedom of Navigation alinsunod sa United Nations Convention on the Law of the Seas (UNCLOS) sa Indo-Pacific Region.

Ito’y sa pagpupulong ni Department of National Defense (DND) Senior Undersecretary Irineo C. Espino at Indian Defense Secretary Shri Giridhar Aramane, kasama ang senior defense officials ng dalawang bansa sa ika-5 Joint Defense Cooperation Committee (JDCC) Meeting sa Makati City, kamakailan.

Dito’y muling pinagtibay ang commitment ng Pilipinas at India sa 2006 Agreement concerning Defense Cooperation kasabay ng pagdiriwang ng 75 taong matatag na diplomatikong ugnayan ng dalawang bansa.

Malugod na tinanggap ni Senior Usec. Espino ang pagpapalwak ng pagtutulungan ng dalawang bansa sa larangan ng cyber security, space-based and emerging technologies, climate change mitigation, at military medicine; gayundin ang kooperasyon sa maritime domain awareness at hydrography.

Sinabi naman ni Defence Secretary Aramane, na inaasahan niyang mapapatatag ang relasyon ng Defense industries ng dalawang bansa sa co-development at co-production ng mga gamit pandigma. | ulat ni Leo Sarne
