DA, walang inaasahang taas-presyo sa bigas sa kabila ng pagtama ng bagyong Julian

Tiniyak ng Department of Agriculture (DA) na walang magiging biglaang taas-presyo sa bigas kasunod ng pagtama ng bagyong Julian.

Ayon kay DA Spokesperson Assistant Secretary Arnel de Mesa, mahigpit na nakatutok na ang kagawaran sa epekto ng bagyo lalo sa Ilocos Region at Cagayan Valley.

Matatag din aniya ang suplay ng bigas sa local at gayundin sa imported rice kaya walang dapat ipag-alala ang mga consumer.

Batay sa tala ng DA-DRRM Office, nasa 52,000 ektarya ng sakahan ng palay ang posibleng maapektuhan ng bagyong Julian.

Umaasa rin ang kagawaran na mananatili ang pinsalang pang-agrikultura sa annual expected losses na nasa pagitan ng 500,000 metrikong tonelada (MT) at 600,000 MT. | ulat ni Jaymark Dagala
