Nanawagan ngayon si House Minority Leader Marcelino Libanan sa mga ahensya ng pamahalaan na mabigyan ng sapat na proteksyon at seguridad ang mga key witness sa Quad Committee ng Kamara na naglahad ng mga testimonya partikular na sa kontrobersyal na war on drugs ng nakaraang administrasyon.
“There’s no question that witnesses such as retired police colonel Royina Garma and alleged drug trafficker Kerwin Espinosa, and their loved ones, are now extremely vulnerable to potential reprisals, given that they have offered damning sworn statements against highly influential people,” saad ng Minority leader.
Mahalaga aniya na mabigyan ng seguridad ang naturang mga resource person na inilantad ang kanilang mga sarili sa posibleng kapahamakan dahil na rin sa kanila mga testimonyang binitiwan.
“The appropriate agencies should safeguard resource persons or key witnesses who have offered testimonial evidence to the quad committee and who have clearly exposed themselves and their family members to grave danger,” ani Libanan.
Sinabi pa niya na ang pagbibigay ng protective services ay maaring maghikayat sa iba pa na tumestigo kaugnay sa ginagawang imbestigasyon.
“In fact, the provision of protective services to witnesses might even encourage, if not embolden, other individuals to come forward and cooperate in the investigation,” dagdag ni Libanan na isa ring abogado.
