Libreng ASF vaccine sa backyard hog raisers, makatutulong sa pagdami ng suplay ng baboy — solon

Naniniwala si Camarines Sur Representative LRay Villafuerte na mas mapapabilis ang pagdami muli ng suplay ng baboy kung mabibigyan ng libreng African Swine Fever (ASF) vaccines ang mga backyard hog growers.

Punto ng mambabatas, ang backyard hog raisers ang bumubuo ng 70% hanggang 80% ng lokal na suplay ng baboy.

Kasabay nito, pinuri din ng mambabatas ang atas ng Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na gawing mabilis ang pag-rollout ng pagbabakuna.

“As I have proposed since last year, the government needs to shoulder the cost of the vaccines for small-scale or backyard raisers, considering that many of them are still reeling from the twin impacts of ASF, which resurfaced locally in 2019, and the three-year CaaOVID-19 pandemic…hence, I support this (livestock industry) proposal for the government to give priority to giving free anti-ASF shots to the hogs of backyard raisers as the DA, through its BAI (Bureau of Animal Industry), fast-tracks its vaccine rollout as ordered by the President,” pahayag ni Villafuerte.

Suportado rin ni Villafuerte ang panukala na i-deputize ang mga local vaccinator sa iba’t ibang lokal na pamahalaan upang mapabilis ang vaccination drive.

Una nang inanunsyo ni Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu-Laurel na matatapos ng Department of Agriculture ang pagbili sa 600,000 na dose ng ASF vaccine sa Disyembre.
