Nanawagan si Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. sa Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), na pa-igtingin pa ang connectivity at katatagan sa rehiyon, sa pamamagitan ng pagharap sa mga darating na hamon.
“While connectivity strengthens the bonds that bind our community, resilience ensures that ASEAN can endure and adapt to the challenges that may arise,” -Pangulong Marcos.
Sa talumpati ng pangulo sa ika-45 na ASEAN Summit plenary sa Vientiane, Laos, binigyang diin nito ang pangangailangan na pagtutulungan ng ASEAN members, lalo na sa linya ng digital economy, food security, turismo, women empowerment, at gender equality.
Kabilang na ang pagpapagaan sa epekto ng Climate Change.
“This success should inspire us to tackle – to continue to tackle the other complex challenges ahead. We must continue to deepen our connectivity and fortify our resilience to ensure that we are prepared for emerging challenges and for future shocks,” —Pangulong Marcos.
Para sa digital economy, sinabi ng pangulo na dapat na maglatag na ng groundwork para sa ligtas at mapagkakatiwalang digital environment, na magpo-posisyon sa ASEAN sa panibagong yugto ng inobasyon, pag-unlad, at oportunidad.
Sinabi ng pangulo na dapat na mamuhunan sa mas matatag na cybersecurity protection ang ASEAN, at dapat na mabigyan ng angkop na digital skills ang mga mamamayan nito.
Habang sa linya naman ng food security, ang ASEAN members ay dapat na mag-adopt ng sustainable agricultural practices, upang mapalakas ang food system sa rehiyon, sa gitna ng mga banta, bunsod ng supply chain disruptions, economic shocks, at weather disturbances.
