Itinutulak ngayon ni Las Piñas Representative Camille Villar na maisama ang pagtugon sa mental health sa benefit package ng Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).
Ayon kay Villar tugon ito sa resulta ng Mental Health Strategic Plan 2019-2023 ng Philippine Council for Mental Health kung saan lumalabas na 3.3 percent ng populasyon ng bansa o katumbas ng 3.3 million Filipinos, ang may depression at mayroong suicide mortality rate na 3.2 kada 100,000 populasyon.
“In order to address this seeming mental health crises among our population, this bill shall expand the coverage of the benefit package to include all mental health disorders and regardless of age group,” saad ni Villar sa kaniyang House Bill 10934.
Sasakupin ng benefit package ang emergency services, psychiatric and neurological services, Mental Health Gap Action Program, at therapy sessions.
“This bill also address the rising costs of mental health treatment by mandating an appropriate increase in PhilHealth’s benefit package taking into consideration the current costs in medical services,” dagdag niya.
Sa hiwalay naman na House Bill 10929 isinusulong ang pagbibigay ng mental health wellness leave sa lahat ng manggagawa.
Umaasa si Villar na sa pamamagitan nito ay mapataas ang labor productivity at efficiency ng mga empleyado at mapataas din ang kamalayan sa kahalagahan ng kalusugan ng bawat manggagawa. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
