Napapanahon nang palawakin pa ang ugnayan sa pagitan ng South Korea at Pilipinas, partikular ang Strategic Relationship ng dalawang bansa.
“Our bonds have continued to grow since then. Today, we have a robust partnership in a myriad of fields of cooperation, including defense and security, maritime cooperation, trade, development, and people-to-people exchanges. From here, there is nowhere else to go but up.” -Pangulong Marcos.
Sa pagbisita sa Malacañang si South Korean President Yon Suk Yeol, sinabi ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na habang binabalangkas ng dalawang bansa ang direksyon tinatahak nito sa hinaharap, malinaw na ito na ang panahon upang i-angat pa ang ugnayan ng Seoul at Maynila.
“As we chart the future direction of our relations, the way forward is clear. The time has come for us to elevate the ties between the Philippines and the Republic of Korea to a Strategic Relationship.” -Pangulong Marcos.
Paliwanag ng pangulo, ang geopolitical situation sa iba’t ibang panig ng mundo ay lalo lamang nagiging komplikado, kaya’t angkop lamang na masabayan ito, upang maabot ang pag-unlad, para sa kapwa mamamayan ng dalawang bansa.
“This idea must be as concrete as the foundation from which our bilateral relationships stand. As the geopolitical environment is only becoming more complex, we must work together to achieve prosperity for our peoples and to promote a rules-based order governed by international law, including the 1982 UNCLOS and the binding 2016 Arbitral Award.” -Pangulong Marcos.
Umaasa rin ang pangulo na ang pagbisitang ito ng Korean President sa Pilipinas, magbubunga lamang ng marami pang bagong kooperasyon, hindi lamang sa lebel ng politika, bagkus, maging sa kalakalan, depensa, seguridad, at iba pang areas of cooperation.
