Pilipinas at Italy, pinalakas ang kooperasyon sa agrikultura sa World Food Day

Mas palalakasin pa ng Pilipinas at bansang Italy ang partnership para mapanatili ang mga sistema sa pagkain at kalakalan sa agrikultura sa bansa.

Ito ang inihayag ni Department of Agriculture (DA) Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. matapos makipagkita kay Italian Minister of Agriculture Francesco Lollobrigida noong Oktubre 16, kasabay ng World Food Day.

Inihayag ng kalihim ang hangarin na mapalawak ang export sa tuna, pinya, frozen fish, carrageenan at dessicated coconut.

Ang Philippine Agricultural Export sa Italy nitong 2023 ay umabot sa US$129 million, na pinangunahan ng crude coconut oil.

Ang malaking komunidad ng mga Pilipino sa Italy na ngayon ay nasa tinatayang 200,000 ang nagpalakas ng demand sa produktong Pilipino.

Ang Pilipinas at Italy ay may umiiral na bilateral relationship sa loob ng 77 taon. | ulat ni Rey Ferrer
