Pormal na naghain ng resolusyon si OFW Party-list Representative Marissa Magsino para magkasa ng pagsisiyasat ang Kamara tungkol sa mga Pilipina na iligal na nire-recruit para maging surrogate mothers sa ibang bansa.

Sa kaniyang House Resolution 2055, ipinunto ni Magsino ang pangangailangan na tugunan ang mga butas sa batas ukol sa human trafficking, at panuntunan sa labor recruitment at migration policies para maiwasang mapagsamantalahan ang mga kababaihan.

Batay sa paunang imbestigasyon, nasa 20 OFW ang pinangakuan ng isang local agency ng trabaho sa Thailand ngunit sapilitang pinasok sa infant-trafficking sa Cambodia

Labintatlo sa kanila ay buntis na at nahaharap sa human trafficking-related charges, at ang pito naman ay nakatakdang ipa-deport dahil sa paglabag sa immigration laws.

“Surrogacy must not come at the cost of our women’s dignity and rights. These women were promised legitimate jobs, only to find themselves victims of a heinous trafficking scheme. We must take immediate action to protect them and ensure such exploitation is curbed.” Saad ni Magsino.
