Pangulong Marcos, nilinaw na di pa rin babalik at hindi pa rin makikipagtulungan ang Pilipinas sa ICC

Nilinaw ni Pangulong Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. na hindi pa rin makikipagtulungan ang Pilipinas sa International Criminal Court (ICC), sakaling tutukan o gumulong na ang imbestigasyon ng ICC sa umano’y human rights violation sa ilalim ng war on drugs ng Duterte Administration.

Pahayag ito ng Pangulo nang tanungin kung babalik na ba ang Pilipinas sa pagiging miyembro ng Rome Statute na bumuo sa International Criminal Court (ICC), kasunod ng pahayag ng Office of the Executive Secretary (OES) kahapon (November 13).

Sabi ng OES, sa oras na idaan ng ICC sa interpol ang proseso para sa imbestigasyon sa war on drugs mapipilitan ang Philippine authorities na makipagtulungan dito.

Paglilinaw ng Pangulo, sa interpol mayroong responsibilidad ang Pilipinas at hindi sa ICC. Ibig sabihin, hindi makikipagtulungan ang gobyerno sa imbestigasyon ng ICC.

Gayunpaman, hindi aniya haharangin ng pamahalaan ang gagawing pagsisiyasat ng international court.

“You have misread it. We do not cooperate with the ICC. That is the position of this government. As Secretary Remulla explained before, we have obligations to Interpol and we have to live up to those obligations. We’ll see – we’ll see how far it goes. We’ll see what the ICC does.” —Pangulong Marcos

Kaugnay naman sa hamon ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa ICC na mag-imbestiga na, ayon kay Pangulong Marcos, desisyon na ito ng dating pangulo at hindi ito tututulan ng pamahalaan.

“Well, as the comment of the Executive Secretary, the former Chief Justice, if ‘yun ang gugustuhin ni PRRD ay hindi naman kami haharang doon sa mga ICC. Hindi lang kami tutulong. Ngunit kung pumapayag siya na makipag-usap siya o magpa-imbestiga siya sa ICC ay nasa kanya ‘yun. Wala na kaming desisyon doon.” —Pangulong Marcos. | ulat ni Racquel Bayan
