Budget cut sa DepEd, posibleng magpalawak sa digital divide sa mga mag-aaral sa bansa — Sen. Loren Legarda

Nagpahayag ng pagkabahala si Senador Loren Legarda sa pagkakatapyas ng ₱12-billion sa panukalang 2025 budget ng Department of Education (DepEd).

Ayon kay Legarda, posibleng magdulot ng negatibong epekto ang hakbang na ito sa mga mag-aaral at mga guro, maging sa kinabukasan ng bansa.

Pinunto ng senador na sa nakaltas na budget, ₱10-billion ang para sana sa computerization program ng ahensya na magbigay ng mga educational technology package sa mga pampublikong paaralan, kabilang na ang IT infrastructure, networking facilities, at information systems.

Aniya, ang pagkaltas sa budget nito ay posibleng magpalawak sa digital divide lalo na sa mga komunidad na kulang o walang mga kagamitan.

Binigyang-diin ni Legarda na sa panahon ngayon, ang digital access ay hindi na luho kundi isang pangangailangan.

Sinabi pa ng mambabatas na dapat panindigan ng estado ang pagbibigay prayoridad sa edukasyon sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng tuloy-tuloy na pondo para sa mga regular na programang direktang pakikinabangan ng mga mag-aaral at mga guro. | ulat ni Nimfa Mae Asuncion
