Mahigit 1,000 PDLs napalaya na ng BuCor sa huling dalawang buwan ng taon

Ipinagmalaki ng pamunuan ng Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) ang bilang ng persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) na napakawalan nito simula Nobyembre hanggang ngayong huling araw ng Disyembre.

Ayon sa BuCor, umabot sa 1,000 PDLs ang napalaya sa nasabing dalawang buwan.

Dahil dito ay umabot na sa kabuuang mahigit 7,000 ang bilang ng mga napalayang PDLs ngayong 2024.

Ayon kay BuCor Director General Gregorio Pio P. Catapang Jr. kabilang sa mga napalaya nitong huling dalawang buwan ng taon ay ang 625 na inmates, na pawang napagsilbihan na ang kanilang mga sentensya.

Kabilang din dito ang 134 na acquitted, isa ang napagbigyan ng motion for release, 38 ang napagbigyan ng probationary release, 190 ang tumanggap ng parole, 11 ang nakalaya sa pamamagitan ng habeas corpus habang isa naman ang nai-turn over sa Bureau of Jail Management and Penology. | ulat ni Lorenz Tanjoco
