Binigyang diin ni Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino, na dapat pag-aralang mabuti ng mga otoridad ang epekto ng climate change sa migration ng mga ibon na dumadaan sa bansa, para maiwasan ang mga bird strike sa ating mga paliparan.

Ayon kay Tolentino, dapat ma-monitor ang ano mang pagbabago sa pattern at bilang ng migratory birds lalo na’t ilang kilometro lang ang layo ng Freedon Island sa Manila Bay, na isang protected bird sanctuary, sa Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Ang migratory birds aniya ay mula sa mas malalamig na rehiyon tulad ng Russia, China, at iba pang bansa sa Asya.

Una nang ipinahayag ng Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), na patuloy na pinag-aaralan ng ahensya kung paano maiiwasan ang bird strikes sa mga eroplanong papalipad o lalapag sa bansa sa harap ng dumaraming populasyon ng migratory birds malapit sa ating mga paliparan.
