P1.5 bilyon SPRING program inilusad ng Australia, Pilipinas

Inilunsad ng gobyerno ng Australia, katuwang ang Pilipinas, ang programang Social Protection, Inclusion, and Gender Equality o SPRING, isang bagong inisyatibo ng layong labanan ang kahirapan, itaguyod ang pagkakapantay-pantay ng kasarian, at palakasin ang inklusyon.

Pinangunahan nina Australian Ambassador HK Yu at Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian ang opisyal na pagpirma ng kasunduan para sa limang taong programa na nagkakahalaga ng P1.5 bilyon.

Sa ilalim ng SPRING, magtutulungan ang dalawang bansa upang mapalakas ang mga social protection program ng Pilipinas sa pamamagitan ng technical assistance, capacity-building, at mga reporma sa polisiya. Kabilang dito ang pagpapabuti sa gender budgeting, pagkolekta ng datos para sa mga PWD, at pagpapalakas ng access ng mga Indigenous Peoples sa serbisyong pang-gobyerno.

Ayon kay Ambassador Yu, target ng SPRING na tugunan ang mga pangangailangan ng mga mahihirap at higit pang palakasin ang pagkakaisa ng dalawang bansa.

Samantala, binigyang-diin ni Sec. Gatchalian ang mahalagang papel ng DSWD sa programa, na nakatulong sa 24 milyong Pilipino nitong 2024. Aniya, patuloy ang kanilang pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga partners nito tulad ng Australia upang makabuo ng mas inklusibo at epektibong mga programa laban sa kahirapan at gender inequality.
