Inaprubahan ng House Committee on Justice ang panukalang Digital Nomad Visa, na naglalayong pagkalooban ng visa ang mga digital nomad foreigners sa bansa.

Ang mga digital nomads ay ang mga dayuhang tourist nagtatrabaho “remotely” gamit ang digital technologies.

Sa ilalim ng House Bill 8165, kwalipikado para sa visa ang isang dayuhan na nasa 18 gulang, may katibayan ng sapat na kita mula sa kanilang trabaho abroad, may health insurance, at walang criminal record.

Naniniwala si Surigao Del Norte 1st District Representative Francisco Matugas II, na magdudulot ang naturang panukalang batas ng positibong epekto sa turismo at ekonomiya ng bansa.
