DA, patuloy ang monitoring sa pinsala ng mataas na aktibidad ng Bulkang Kanlaon sa agri sector

Nakatutok pa rin ang Department of Agriculture (DA) sa epekto ng pag-alburoto ng Bulkang Kanlaon sa mga sakahan lalo na sa Western Visayas.

Ayon sa DA, sa ngayon ay aabot na sa halos ₱130-million ang naitatalang halaga ng pinsala ng aktibidad ng bulkan sa mga sakahan ng palay; mais, high value crops, at gayundin sa livestock sector.

Katumbas ito ng ektarya (ha) ng agricultural areas, at production loss na nasa 5,420 MT.

Nasa 1,431 na magsasaka na rin ang naapektuhan ang kabuhayan mula nang mag-alburoto ang Bulkang Kanlaon.

Habang ongoing ang monitoring at assessment sa karagdagan pang pinsala ng pagputok ng Bulkan, inaasikaso na rin ng DA ang tulong sa mga apektadong sektor.

Kabilang dito ang pamamahagi ng agri inputs, Survival and Recovery (SURE) Loan Program mula sa Agricultural Credit Policy Council (ACPC), Quick Response Fund at Indemnification para sa insured affected farmers sa Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC). | ulat ni Merry Bastasa
