Pinatunayan ng Tourism Department ang kanilang commitment na maisulong ang industriya ng turismo sa bansa, sa kabila ng mga hamong kinaharap nito, noong 2024.

Sa Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon, sinabi ni Tourism Secretary Christina Frasco na bagamat bumaba sa PhP 200 million ang budget ng tanggapan para sa branding at marketing programs nila, mula sa PhP 1.2 billion noong 2023.

Ang geopolitics sa rehiyon, naka-apekto rin aniya sa tourism arrivals sa bansa, noong 2024.

Inihalimbawa ng kalihim ang suspensyon ng e-visa para sa Chinese Market, kung saan inasahan ng pamahalaan na nasa dalawang milyong Chinese tourist ang darating sa Pilipinas sa pagtatapos ng 2024, ngunit nasa 200,000 lamang ito.

Sabi ng kalihim, sa kabila ng mga hamon at iba pang pangyayari na hindi kontrolado ng pamahalaan, nagawa pa rin ng Pilipinas na makapagtala ng 5.9 million tourist arrivals noong 2024.

Dahil aniya ito sa ginawa nilang pagtutok sa top tourism sources market ng bansa, kasabay ng pagsisiguro na mataas ang tourism spending ng mga bumibisita sa Pilipinas.
