COA, pinalawig ang patakaran para sa mga nagreretirong K-9 dogs

Inamyendahan ng Commission on Audit ang patakaran sa pagaari ng mga magreretirong K-9 service o mga aso na hindi sumailalim sa training and evaluation.

Sa Circular No. 2024-012, idinagdag ng COA ang probisyon na dapat magsumite ng katibayan ang mga interesado na mag may ari ng K-9 na kaya nilang protektahan ang mga aso.

Sakop ng circular ang mga working dogs mula military, police, local government units, and other government offices.

Alinsunod sa 2021 Guidelines, pinapayagan ang mga government agencies na i-dispose ang kanilang “culled working dogs” o mga aso na hindi na kayang magsilbi bilang K-9, gayundin ang “green dogs” na nabili na wala pang training, at mga nagretirong aso.

Ito ay sa pamamagitan lamang ng paraan ng adoption pero para sa green dogs, ay sa pamamagitan ng public auction.

Sa ilalim ng three-year old guidelines, kelangan na ipaalam ng ahensya sa publiko na maari nang ampunin ang aso kaakibat ang “sealed confidentiality and fair evaluation”.

Sa extreme cases naman pinapayagan ang “euthanasia” para sa mga aged or sickly dogs sa pangangasiwa ng veterinary officer. | ulat ni Melany Reyes
