Davao City Water District, nalugi ng mahigit ₱3-B — COA

Nakapagtala ang Davao City Water District (DCWD) ng kabuuang ₱3.14-bilyong luging kita noong 2022 at 2023 dahil sa pagkawala ng suplay ng tubig.

Batay sa 2023 report ng Commission on Audit (COA) na inilabas noong December 7, 2024, umabot sa 46.364 milyong cubic meters ang non-revenue water (NRW) ng DCWD noong 2022, habang nasa 41.97 milyong cubic meters naman ito noong 2023.

Sa halaga ng pera, umabot sa ₱1.513 billion ang nawalang kita noong 2022 batay sa rate na ₱32.63 kada cubic meter, samantalang ₱1.657 billion naman ang nalugi noong 2023 sa rate na ₱39.47 kada cubic meter.

Ayon sa water district, ito ay dahil sa tagas sa sistema ng tubo, partikular sa mga lugar kung saan may lumang pipe system na kailangang palitan o i-upgrade.

Tiniyak ng DCWD sa COA na may mga hakbang nang ginagawa upang tugunan ang isyu ng pagkawala ng tubig, kabilang ang 10 proyektong kasalukuyang isinasagawa o malapit nang simulan.

Binigyang-diin ng COA na dapat bigyang-prayoridad at pabilisin ang pagpapatupad ng mga proyekto upang mabawasan ang pagkawala ng tubig, gayundin ang regular na pagsasagawa ng performance audit sa mga water meter ng mga customer. | ulat ni Melany Valdoz-Reyes
