House leaders, kapwa nilinaw ang kanilang papel sa party-list system

Sa gitna ng mga usapin tungkol sa tunay na diwa ng party-list system sa bansa, kapwa  nilinaw ng Ako Bicol at Tingog Party-list  ang kanilang representasyon sa Kongreso.

Sa isang statement, sinabi ni Ako Bicol Representative Jill Bongalon na naaayon sa batas at isang maling interpretasyon ang pag-aakalang tanging mga grupong kabilang sa mga marginalized sektor lamang ang maaaring lumahok sa party-list system.

Inihalimbawa nito ang Supreme Court decision sa Atong Paglaum, Inc. vs. Commission on Elections, na naglilinaw ng nasabing desisyon na maaaring lumahok sa party-list system ay hindi lamang mga pangsektoral na grupo kundi pati na rin ang mga pambansa at panrehiyong partido o organisasyon na may adbokasiya para sa pambansang interes.

Samantala, tiniyak naman ni Tingog Partylist Representative Jude Acidre na nananatili silang tapat sa adhikain ng party-list system sa kabila ng mga alegasyong may nagmamanipula sa sistema.

Ayon kay Acidre mahigit 40 batas na ang  naipasa ng partido na tumutugon sa mahahalagang isyu ng bansa.

Binibigyang-diin din ng dalawang mambabatas na mahalaga ang aksyon kaysa sa akusasyon, kaya’t patuloy nilang gagawin ang kanilang mandato na magbigay ng agarang tulong at pangmatagalang suporta sa publiko.

Habang nagpapatuloy ang mga talakayan tungkol sa hinaharap ng party-list system, tiniyak ng Ako Bicol at Tingog Party-list na mananatili silang nakatuon sa integridad, serbisyo, at totoong pagbabago para sa sambayanang Pilipino. | ulat ni Melany Valdoz-Reyes
