Nagkausap sa kauna-unahang pagkakataon sa pamamagitan ng telepono sina Defense Secretary Gilberto Teodoro Jr. at ang bagong US Defense Secretary ng Trump administration na si Pete Hegseth.

Nakasaad sa inilabas na official readout ng US Embassy sa Kampo Aguinaldo, tinalakay ng dalawang opisyal ang kahalagahan ng pagpapahupa ng tensyon sa South China Sea o West Philippine Sea.

Doon, natalakay din nila Teodoro at Hegseth ang pagpapalakas sa Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).

Kasunod nito, muling iginiit ni Hegseth ang ‘ironclad’ commitment ng Amerika sa Mutual Defense Treaty (MDT).
