Pilipinas, nananatiling FMD-free — BAI

Nilinaw ngayon ng Bureau of Animal Industry (BAI) na nananatiling walang kaso ng Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) sa Pilipinas.

Naglabas ng pahayag ang BAI kung saan ipinaliwanag nito na magkaibang sakit ang Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease (HFMD) na nakakaapekto sa tao at Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) na sakit naman ng hayop.

Ayon sa BAI, ang kamakailang HFMD outbreak sa Batangas ay walang kinalaman sa mga hayop.

Sa kabila nito, patuloy naman umano ang ginagawang hakbang ng Department of Agriculture (DA) para protektahan ang livestock sector laban sa FMD.

Kabilang dito ang regular na monitoring sa kalusugan ng hayop, mahigpit na border control at aktibong pakikipag-ugnayan sa mga regional at provincial FMD coordinators.

Bukod dito, pansamantalang ipinagbabawal ang pag-aangkat ng mga hayop, produkto, at by-products na maaaring tamaan ng FMD mula sa mga bansang may kumpirmadong kaso ng naturang sakit.

Kasunod nito, hinikayat ng DA ang mga livestock owner na maging mapagmatyag at agad i-report sa,local agricultural/veterinary office o sa ahwd@bai.gov.ph at hotline na 09668748891 kung may mapansing hindi pangkaraniwang pagkamatay o sintomas sa alagang hayop. | ulat ni Merry Ann Bastasa
