Hinamon ng mga miyembro ng Young Guns ang mga kandidato sa pagkasenador na isapubliko ang kanilang posisyon kaugnay ng impeachment case na inihain laban kay Vice President Sara Duterte.
Ayon kay House Assistant Majority Leader Pammy Zamora, magiging election issue ang impeachment.
Kailangan din aniya malaman ng taumbayan kung paano magdedesisyon ang mga posibleng maging senador pagdating sa mga lumabag sa Konstitusyon.
“They (Senate bets) should also include in their platforms on how they intend to decide on those who commit what we call culpable violation of the Constitution. So, this is a big challenge and litmus test as to how strong the values of our candidates have on public service. Dapat maging independent sila,” sabi ni Zamora
Sabi naman ni 1-Rider Party-list Rep. Rodge Gutierrez na miyembro ng 11-man House Prosecution Panel, ang impeachment case laban kay Duterte ay tiyak na magiging isang isyu sa mga kandidato ngayong panahon ng kampanya tuimatakbo man sa nasyunal o lokal na posisyon.
“This will definitely be an election issue and I think it should be welcomed… Our take here is that voters should no longer base their preferences on popularity or personality politics. At least now, we already have an issue on how we think our senatorial candidates will fare with regard to the Duterte impeachment complaint,” saad niya.
Ngunit para kay Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial candidate at dating SP Tito Sotto, hindi ito maituturing na election issue dahil wala pa naman sa mga tumatakbo ang miyembro ng impeachment court.
Ang payo lang aniya niya sa mga mauupo na senator judge ay maging impartial.
