Temporary ban sa pag-angkat ng animal products mula sa Germany, ipinatupad ng DA

Ipinatupad na ng Department of Agriculture (DA) ang  temporary ban sa importasyon ng animal products mula sa Germany.

Ito’y matapos makumpirma ang outbreak ng foot-and
-mouth disease sa domestic buffaloes mula sa nasabing bansa.

Ayon kay Agriculture Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr. mananatili ang import ban sa Germany hanggang sa maideklara ng World Organization for Animal Health ang  Foot-and-Mouth Disease o FMD-free status.

Iniutos din ng kalihim ang suspension sa pag-iisyu ng  sanitary at phytosanitary import clearances.

Noong 2024,  nakapag-angkat ang Pilipinas ng 3,177.5 metric  tons ng  baka mula sa Germany na tinatayang 0.5% ng kabuuang beef import ng bansa.
