The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) joined President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and other government agencies in bringing the ‘Trabaho at Serbisyong Pangkalusugan sa Bagong Pilipinas’ job fair at the Old Manunca Elementary School in Sta. Rita, Samar on Friday (March 14).

“Lahat po ng nagtatrabaho ay bibigyan natin ng pagkakataon na makapaghanap-buhay ng disente at ng mabuti para sa kanilang mga pamilya,” President Marcos told the beneficiaries during his message at the event.

A total of 1,944 exiting 4Ps grantees explored job opportunities from 10 local employers and three recruitment agencies invited by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) offering around 3,000 employment slots.

Five 4Ps beneficiaries who were hired-on-the-spot will receive pre-employment assistance subject to the assessment of the DSWD’s Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP).

The job seekers participated in pre-employment orientation from partner agencies to help them seek employment that aligns with their skill set, experience, and interests.

Each beneficiary received Php3,000 cash aid under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program to help them secure their pre-employment requirements.

The Department of Health (DOH), on the other hand, provided free medical and dental services to the participants.

The DOLE provided cash assistance and start up kits to beneficiaries of its livelihood programs.

‘Kadiwa ng Pangulo’ stalls were also set up by the Department of Agriculture (DA) to provide affordable basic goods and commodities to the job fair attendees.

The event also featured a one-stop shop for pre-employment documentation and advisory services from different government agencies, including the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), Social Security System (SSS), Pag-IBIG Fund, and PhilHealth.

The DSWD officials who joined President Marcos in the job fair were Undersecretaries Monina Josefina Romualdez and Vilma Cabrera; and Asst. Secretary Marites Maristela.

The other government officials present at the event were DOLE Secretary Bienvenido Laguesma, DOH Secretary Teodoro Herbosa, DA Secretary Francisco Tiu Laurel Jr., and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
