Ibinida ni Speaker Martin Romualdez sa harap ng mga partisipante ng Harvard World Model United Nations (WorldMun) 2025 conference ang isinusulong na foreign policy ng Pang. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. para sa kapayapaan, kasabay ng pagtindig sa soberanya ng Pilipinas.
Ang WorldMUN ay isang taunang komperensya na inorganisa ng Harvard University students katuwang ang ibang host university sa mga kasaping bansa.
Aniya, hindi lang basta host country ang Pilipinas ngayong taon, ngunit isang bansa na kapupulutan nila ng aral patungkol sa katatagan, pagkakaisa at pagsasama-sama ng komunidad.
“Under the Marcos Administration, we have pursued a foreign policy of peace, pragmatism, and partnership – building stronger alliances while standing firm in defending our sovereignty. We have strengthened economic ties with partners across Asia, the United States, Europe, and the Middle East, securing investments and trade agreements that will uplift millions of Filipinos. This is the essence of diplomacy: standing firm in principle while seeking common ground,” ani Romualdez.
Umaasa ang lider ng Kamara na mapagnilayan ng mga partisipante na sa kabila ng mga pagkakaiba, ay maaari pa ring umusad basta’t bukas na magtaguyod at hindi maninira; makikinig; at hahanap ng isang mithiin.
Mahalaga aniya ito lalo na at maraming hamong kinakaharap ang kasalukuyang mundo.
“These challenges will not wait for the next generation of leaders. You are that generation. Do not wait for permission to make an impact. Do not wait for the ‘right time.’ The right time is now,” saad pa niya.
Paalala pa niya sa mga kalahok na hindi na sapat ang maging lider lamang dahil kailangan ngayon ng tamang lider sa gitna ng mga pagsubok na hinaharap ng mundo.
“The world does not need more leaders. It needs the right kind of leaders. Leaders who have the moral courage to make tough choices, the wisdom to know when to seek compromise, and the conviction to stand firm when the moment demands it,” saad pa niya. | ulat ni Kathleen Forbes
