Welcome para kay House Committee on Basic Education Chair Roman Romulo ang naging hakbang ng DepEd na ipa-refund sa mga eskuwelahan na may iregular na Senior High School Voucher Program beneficiaries ang nagamit nilang pondo.
Aniya, isa itong kritikal na hakbang para panagutin ang mga nagkamaling private schools gayundin ay protektahan ang pondo ng bayan para sa tunay na mga nangangailangan.
“I welcome the Department of Education’s efforts to hold accountable the private schools involved in irregular claims under the Senior High School Voucher Program. This is a critical step toward safeguarding public funds and ensuring that government support reaches the learners who truly need it,” sabi ni Romulo.
Gayunman, higit aniyang mahalaga ay mabalik ang integridad at kredibilidad ng assistance programs ng pamahalaan.
Kaya suportado aniya nila ang gumugulong na reporma sa kagawaran.
“Beyond refund and recovery, the ultimate goal is to restore integrity and credibility to our government assistance programs-ensuring that every peso reaches a deserving Filipino student. We support the Department’s ongoing reforms, including enhanced validation systems, full audits, and digital transparency tools,” dagdag ng kongresista.
Binigyang-diin din ng Pasig solon ang kahalagahan ng maagap na koordinasyon ng DepEd, Private Education Assistance Committee (PEAC), at awtoridad gaya ng NBI para sa mabilis na pagsisiyasat, pagpapanagot at pagtatama sa pang-aabuso.
“Where fraud or criminal intent is found, we expect appropriate charges to be filed. Malicious acts that defraud the Filipino people-especially at the expense of our learners must never be tolerated,” ani Romulo.
Makakaasa naman aniya ang DepEd sa patuloy na suporta ng Kongreso lalo na sa pinaigting nilang oversight para matiyak ang paghahatid ng kalidad at corruption-free na edukasyon.
Sa 54 na eskuwelahang tinanggal sa voucher program, 38 na ang fully refunded, dalawan ang may partial refund at 14 ang wala pang aksyon. | ulat ni Kathleen Forbes
