Nakikiisa si Speaker Martin Romualdez sa mainit na pagsalubong kay United States Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth sa kaniyang unang pagbisita sa Pilipinas.
Ayon sa lider ng Kamara muli nitong pinagtitibay ang malalim at makasaysayang alyansa sa pagitan ng Estados Unidos at Pilipinas na kritikal din sa gitna ng mga issue sa South China Sea.
“Hegseth’s visit comes at a critical time for the region and underscores our common commitment to upholding peace, stability, and the rule of law – especially amid complex challenges in the South China Sea,” ani Romualdez.
Isang repleksyon naman aniya ng nagkakaisang hangarin para sa pinaigting na defense cooperation, pagkilala sa freedom of navigation at paggalang sa international norms ang high-level na pagpupulong sa pagitan ni Secretary Hegseth at mga opisyal ng Pilipinas.
Naniniwalan naman si Romualdez na bukod sa seguridad mahalaga rin mapayabong ang ugnayang pang kalakalan, ekonomiya, trabaho at iba pang oportunidad para sa mga mamamayan ng dalawang bansa
Gayundin ang pagkakaroon ng isang malaya, bukas at maunlad na Indo-Pacific.
