Planong ‘zero- remittance’ ng mga supporters ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte, mas makakaapekto sa mga pamilya ng OFWs — ilang ekonomista

Naniniwala ang mga ekonomista ng Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) na higit na maka-aapekto sa mga pamilya ng mga Pinoy abroad ang banta na “zero-remittance.”

Kamakailan sinabi ng mga OFW supporters ni dating Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte  na plano nilang pagsasagawa ang  weeklong “zero- remittance” bilang protesta sa pagditene sa former president sa  International Criminal Court (ICC) sa The Hague.

Ayon kay  BPI lead economist Emilio Neri Jr. kung matutuloy ang hakbang ay maipagkakait nito ang suporta na kinakailangang ng kanilang pamilya sa Pilipinas.

Maapektuhan din ang inaasahang rate cut ng Banko Sentral Pilipinas na sa pagtaya ng ilang mga ekonomista at multilateral lender ay posibleng gawin ngayong buwan ng Abril.

Posible rin anilang na sumirit hanggang sa ₱62 ang halaga ng piso kontra dolyar kung matutuloy ang banta na tigil remittance na siyang magtutulak ng pagtaas ng presyo.

Pero aniya, posible rin na hindi ito matuloy dahil bulto ng remittance ng bansa ay mula sa bansang Amerika at Middle East at hindi nito kinakatawan ang kabuoang pinanggagalingan ng perang padala.

Ayon naman kay BPI strategist Marco Javier ang planong weeklong zero remittance ay  mahirap gawin sa mga Overseas Filipino na may binabayarang loan amortization sa bahay,sasakyan, at maging tuition ng mga anak.  | ulat ni Melany Valdoz Reyes
