SEC, naninindigan sa 20% public float requirement para sa Initial Public Offering

Naninindigan ang Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) sa 20 percent minimum public float requirement para sa mga kumpanyang nais mag-apply para sa Initial Public Offering (IPO).

Naniniwala ang SEC na ang mas mataas na public ownership ay mahalaga upang mapanatili ang market depth at efficiency.

Batay sa SEC Memorandum Circular, itinaas ang minimum public ownership (MPO) sa 20% mula sa dating 10% upang mapahusay ang market liquidity, mapabuti ang price discovery, at maiwasan ang price manipulation.

Bukod dito, layunin din ng patakaran na mabawasan ang sobrang konsentrasyon ng ownership at palakasin ang good corporate governance para sa mas matibay na capital market sa Pilipinas.

Matapos ang talakayan ng SEC at Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE), pinayagan ang isang exemption na nagpapahintulot sa initial public float na 15%, ngunit kailangang sumunod sa mahigpit na criteria.

Ang mga kumpanyang mag-a-apply para sa exemption ay kailangang umabot sa 20% requirement sa loob ng 24 na buwan mula sa kanilang listing date, kung kinakailangan ng SEC. | ulat ni Melany Valdoz Reyes
