Sen. Tolentino, naniniwalang panahon nang gumamit ng nuclear energy ang Pilipinas

Naniniwala si Senate Majority Leader Francis Tolentino na napapanahon nang gamitin ng Pilipinas ang nuclear energy para maibsan ang problema sa mataas na presyo ng kuryente, na siya namang nagpapataas sa gastos sa produksyon at presyo ng mga produkto.

Pinaliwanag ni Tolentino na suportado niya ang development ng nuclear energy bilang alternatibo at mas murang pagkukunan ng kuryente dahil matagal at mahal ang magtayo ng mga tradisyunal na planta.

Una nang isinusulong ng senador ang Senate Bill 1194 o ang Philippine Nuclear Regulation Bill na magtataguyod ng komprehensibong framework para palawigin ang paggamit ng nuclear energy sa bansa.

Ayon sa reelectionist senator, maraming island provinces ang Pilipinas kung saan mahal at kapos ng serbisyo ng kuryente.

Pero pinunto ni Tolentino na may mga pag-aaral na magiging epektibo ang micro modular nuclear power plants para maghatid ng kuryente sa mga liblib at off-grid areas sa Pilipinas.

Bukod sa nuclear power, isinusulong din ni Tolentino ang pag-alis sa 12 percent value-added tax (VAT) sa elektrisidad sa pamamagitan ng inihain niyang Senate Bill 2970. | ulat ni Nimfa Mae Asuncion
