The Marine Battalion Landing Team-8 (MBLT-8) continues to enhance its warfighting capabilities through the successful execution of Unilateral Exercise “NAIMENG” 01-25, focusing on Mortar Fire Support.

From February 28 to 01 March 01, 2025, the 48th and 58th Marine Companies conducted mortar fire drills at a strategic location, providing simulated indirect fire support for friendly forces at Saud Beach Landing Site (BLS), Brgy. Saud, Badoc, Ilocos Norte. The 38th Marine Company in Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte, conducted a separate exercise, rehearsing mortar emplacement on a truck to improve mobility and rapid deployment capabilities.

The mortar, valued for its versatility and firepower, played a key role in simulating fire support missions for troops executing Counter-Landing Operations. Following each fire mission, mortar teams performed rapid displacement maneuvers, shifting to alternate firing positions to ensure survivability and sustained indirect fire support throughout the exercise.
