‘Walang Gutom’ Program ng DSWD, palalakasin sa gitna ng tumataas na hunger rate

Tiniyak ng Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) na paiigtingin pa nito ang mga hakbang kontra kagutuman sa pamamagitan ng Walang Gutom Program (WGP).

Kasunod ito ng resulta ng pinakahuling Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey kung saan naitala ang 27.2% na hunger rate sa bansa.

Ayon kay DSWD Spokesperson Assistant Secretary Irene Dumlao, ang pinakabagong survey ay indikasyon sa pangangailangang palawakin at pagbutihin pa ang pagpapatupad ng Walang Gutom Program ng gobyerno.

Sa kasalukuyan, sinusuportahan umano ng DSWD ang nasa 300,000 food-poor households o katumbas ng 1.5 milyong indibidwal sa buong bansa sa pamamagitan ng pagbibigay ng ₱3,000 food aid.

Target naman ng DSWD na mapalawak pa ang bilang mga benepisyaryo rito lalo na sa mga lugar kung saan nananatiling seryoso ang suliranin sa kagutuman.

“By 2027, the agency targets to assist 750,000 food-poor families, reinforcing the government’s commitment to a hunger-free Philippines,” ani Asst. Sec. Dumlao.

Samantala, tinukoy rin nito ang patuloy na serbisyo ng Walang Gutom Kitchen sa Pasay City na nagbibigay ng libreng hot meals sa mas maraming pamilya, indibidwal, at mga batang palaboy.
