Panuntunan sa minimum access volume sa imported na karneng baboy, rerebisahin ng DA

Maglalatag ang Department of Agriculture (DA) ng total overhaul sa panuntunan pagdating sa minimum access volume (MAV) para sa imported na karneng baboy.

Ayon kay Agri Secretary Francisco Tiu-Laurel Jr., kailangan nang rebisahin ang 30 taong panuntunan sa MAV nang maiwasan na maabuso ito ng maliit na bilang ng accredited importers.

Sa pag-review nito sa MAV, sinabi ni Secretary Tiu Laurel na hindi nakikinabang ang mga consumer sa binabaang taripa.

Batay sa inisyal na plano, pinag-aaralan ng DA na itaas ang alokasyon sa meat processors ng 40,000 metriko tonelada at ang balanse ay ilalaan sa Food Terminal Inc., at dalhin sa mga pamilihan upang mapatatag ang presyo ng karne ng baboy.
