Alex Eala’s magical ride in the Wimbledon came to an end after bowing to Jasmine Paolini, 4-6, 6-4, 3-6 in their Round of 16 match at the Centre Court in London on Monday night (Manila time).
The 21-year-old Filipina star missed the quarterfinals as she failed to repeat her Dubai Tennis Championships Round of 32 victory over the Italian player.
It was not bad at all though for Eala as she exited the tournament as the first Filipino to be seeded at Wimbledon and play in the fourth round of a Grand Slam event.
During her run, she beat Renata Zarazua and got even with Maya Joint.
Eala then defeated again world No. 3 Iga Swiatek, dethroning the defending champion in the process for her seventh career win over top 10 players.
