Pinasimple na ng Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) ang proseso ng pag-apruba sa foreign travel requests ng mga local government official at mga empleyado nito.
Sa bisa ng Administrative Order No. 47, Series of 2026, maaari nang magtalaga ang DILG secretary ng opisyal para mag-apruba ng foreign travel requests.
Para sa official travel na tatlong buwan pababa at walang emergency o crisis, ang DILG Regional Directors na ang maaaring mag-apruba ng travel ng mga provincial, city, at municipal elective official.
Mananatili naman sa DILG Secretary ang pag-apruba sa official at unofficial foreign travel ng mga provincial governor, mayor ng Highly Urbanized at Independent Component Cities, at municipal mayor ng Pateros.
Ang revised approval mechanism ay epektibo simula September 7, 2026. Patuloy namang isinasagawa ang aplikasyon online sa pamamagitan ng Foreign Travel Authority Online System (FTA-OS).
