Panukalang iurong sa May 11, 2026 ang BARMM Elections, pasado na sa Kamara sa ikatlo at huling pagbasa

Sa botong 198 na pabor, tuluyan nang pinagtibay sa Kamara ang House Bill 11144, na layong ipagpaliban ang unang regular elections sa Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao o BARMM.

Sa ilalim ng panukala, mula sa orihinal na petsa na May 12, 2025 ay gagawin na ang halalan sa May 11, 2026.

Isa sa mga naging basehan ng pagsusulong na iurong ang pagdaraos ng elekson ay ang pagresolba sa mga isyung legal at administratibo.

Kabilang dito ang epekto ng desisyon ng Korte Suprema na hindi na kasama ang Sulu sa BARMM.

Paraan din ito upang masiguro na handa na ang transition para sa transition alinsunod sa hiling ng Bangsamoro Transition Authority.

Ang Pangulo naman ay pipili ng 80 magiging bagong miyembro ng parlyamento hanggang may maihalal nang mga opisyal sa 2026. | ulat ni Kathleen Forbes
