Mindanao solon, hinikayat ng bagong DND secretary na irekonsidera ang peace talks sa CPP-NPA-NDF
Umapela si Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez kay Defense Sec. Gibo Teodoro na irekonsidera ang pagbubukas muli ng usaping pangkapayapaan kasama ang CPP-NPA-NDF.
Ang apela ng kinatawan ay bunsod na rin ng nauang pahayag ng kalihim sa kaniyang personal niyang pananaw ay hindi na nito nais pang makipagnegosasyon sa communist group.
“I hope that he reconsiders that position, because this long-running communist insurgency has resulted in the loss of many Filipino lives – communist guerrillas, soldiers and civilians, including children. Just one Filipino the government could save by talking with the communists is worth all the effort,” ani Rodriguez.
Para kay Rodriguez, kung totoo ngang umo-onti na lang ang bilang ng communsit group ay mas lalong obligado ang estado na makaipag-usap sa kanila kaysa idaan ito sa bakbakan
“I am sure that these CPP-NPA-NDF remnants would want to enjoy life in peace with their families, instead of getting exterminated by the overwhelming military power of the state. They should realize that their dream of more 50 years of taking over the government has remained just that – an impossible dream,” dagdag ng mambabatas.
Maaari aniyang ihalimbawa ni Teodoro sa mga makakaliwa ang isa sa kilalang lider ng NPA na si Bernabe Buscayano alias Kumander Dante, na kapwa Tarlaceno gaya ng kalihim.
Kailangan lamang aniyang maipaunawa at maipakita na may magandang maidudulot ang pagtalikod sa armed struggle.
Pinakokonsidera rin ni Rodriguez kay Teodoro ang pagbabalik ng security agreement sa pagitan ng DND at University of the Philippines lalo aniya at nagtapos ang DND chief sa naturang unibersidad. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
