Umapela si Camarines Sur Rep. LRay Villafuerte sa Senado na agad talakayin ang panukalang Magna Carta for Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) sa pagbubukas muli ng sesyon ng Kongreso sa July 24.
Aniya, mahalaga na mapagtibay na ang batas na magsusulong sa karapatan ng mga BHW lalo at lumalaki ang populasyon ng bansa.
“With the ever-increasing growth rate of our population, our BHWs are truly indispensable as basic medical frontliners in local communities. They are always in the frontline of providing maternal, newborn and child health care in the neighborhood, and act as health educators and community organizers in promoting the government’s health awareness campaigns down to the smallest unit of our society: the family. Undeniably, the nature of their work is full-time.” Saad ni Villafuerte.
Ang Magna Carta for BHW ay una nang napagtibay ng Kamara noong 18th Congress ngunit hindi na naihabol ng Senado.
Kaya ngayon ay umaasa si Villafuerte na maisasakatuparan na ang panukala.
Sa ilalim nito bibigyan ng insentibo at benepisyo ang mga BHW gaya ng P3,000 na buwanang honorarium, hazard, transportation, at subsistence allowances, one-time retirement cash incentive, health benefits, vacation at maternity leaves, GSIS insurance at cash gift.
Nakasaad din dito na ang mga BHW na nakapagserbisyo ng limang taon na walang putol ay bibigyan din ng first grade Civil Service Eligibility ay bibigyang pagkakataon din na sumailalim sa trainings. | ulat ni Kathleen Jean Forbes
